Memories of my own wedding brought about this 4" x 8" collaged canvas. My dad was VERY special to me. Being the youngest, and the only girl in the family, you might say I was a "daddy's girl". He was a somewhat quiet man. I always knew it was hard for him to speak his inner feelings. But, I always seemed to know how he felt just by looking at him. He spoke with his eyes. When I got married, he didn't speak many words. He didn't need to. I knew how much he loved me, and how happy and proud he was of me. There was no question in my mind, or heart, about that.
The other special element of this collaged canvas, is the image of the bride dressing. My oldest brother gave me this card on my wedding day. I have kept this card for 25 years. I love this image as much today as I loved it when he first gave it to me. I hold it dear to my heart...just like I hold my brother dear to me. He is my "big" brother who I know is always watching out for me....like my dad once did.
To create this canvas, I first inked the blank canvas with various earth tone inks. I stamped the "man" image from the Buzz and Bloom Men stamp set on tissue paper. After tearing out the image, I stippled the tissue paper to add warm colors, and applied it to the canvas with gel medium. I added other scrap pieces of tissue that had also been stippled and stamped with various images from the Pretty Things II stamp set. After lightly sanding a copy of the bridal image, I added photo corners, and applied it to the canvas with gel medium. After it was dry, I lightly sanded the edges of the canvas to give it even more of a vintage feel. I then added layers of brown and gold ribbons.
My dad..."father of the bride"...he was so proud.

This is a really beautiful canvas, I love the ribbon on it as well.
