This year 2007 has been a full year of highlights for me in a personal and family sense and it would be very difficult to say which one event made me the happiest. I started the year by making a conscious choice to let this be the year I wanted to see growth and renewal ~ emotionally, to be a better wife, to grow as a parent as my daughter grapples with being a teen, to be a more aware person who is capable of contributing positively to the relationships I have, and to grow from strength to strength as a scrapper. It is about being the enabler, the change, in the life I want for my family and myself.
The Buzz and Bloom Flowers Tabbed Book Kit added a happy feeling to the theme and my story. I painted the flowers a bright yellow, topped them with the cream painted chipboard Blame It On Sunshine Flowers, and added sparkle with dimension glitter. The book's title are the perfectly sized chipoboard Urban Alpahabet painted in a slightly darker yellow. Inside, Lusi Austin's Acrylic Stamps 4you created journaling spots and the Spot On Alphabets were used for the year 2007.
I thoroughly enjoyed making this album and I hope the work from the Design Team will inspire you to create a book for yourself or as a gift to a special person. Thanks for looking !
Echo. One of my most memorable moments from this year! Echo is a Lake Aquarium and Science Center in Vermont that we visited this summer! I had taken quite a few photos, but never even printed any of them out! Isn't that the way, now that everything is digital? When Helene approached me with the topic, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to showcase our summer trip to Echo!
I first decided on a color scheme, brown and aqua. I covered the chipboard book kit with cardstock, and sanded the edges to get a nice clean edge. I cut 7.5x10.5" pieces of white cardstock for page blanks, and used a corner rounder on all the edges. When I decided on background paper, I covered each page blank, giving the final page more stability in the end. I also corner rounded all the photos, and cardstock mats, to keep everything uniform. Everything must match!!
I used the Dotti stamp set to randomly adorn the cover's front and back, as well as many of the photos/pages inside the album. I used the Tubby UM Clear Alphabet stamps to label many of my photographs.
For the chipboard Swirly Snail pointers, and Tubby alpha, I painted them with two coats of general craft acrylic paint, and sanded them lightly before adhering them to the pages. I LOVE those Pointers, and how they look on my pages! I distressed everything (big shocker there!!) with a dark brown dye ink, and stamped some Dotti accents on some of the photos themselves.
I finished the album off with three loose-leaf rings, and some ribbon snippits, as well as a ribbon tied around the front cover.
My main goal in doing this album, was to make sure I did not leave anything out. I wanted to be able to show it to someone, and have them look at it from cover to cover, and know exactly what our experience held. I used the inside cover as an introduction, so the observer would know how I was feeling, and what we did that whole day back in July. It was truly a day to remember!!
Another gorgeous album! The Buzz and Bloom Tabbed Book Kit: Christmas 5 pages 5 3/4" x 3 1/2"
I saw the albums with the characters on the top and couldn't wait to try one. I painted the reindeer and Santa and then went over parts with some kindy glitz, with the Buzz and Bloom teensy alphabet I painted then white then went over them with more kindy glitz, in fact I used loads of glitz, it just seemed to go so well with the whole Christmas theme.
The characters are well defined so it is nice and easy to paint them different colours having the holes pre punched makes it nice easy album to put together.
When I saw how CUTE the Tabbed Large Heart Album was, I decided to gather up some favourite photos of events/moments in Harmony's life to create my little album - although there are many more, and I may add some extra pages - these ones were what I had on hand to create with!
I started out by selecting Pink and Orange Cardstocks and traced around each chipboard page, cut out and used these as my bases for each of my pages. I then layered scalloped papers over the top of my pages, inking the edges before adhering them.
For the front page, I used a cute photo of Harmony. I cut around the edge of the Scalloped Paper Pattern, so that I could slip part of the photo behind it. I attached to the front chipboard page.
I traced around a heart tab onto orange cardstock, cut out, then stamped using the "I love you beyond measure" Buzz and Bloom Crazy Beautiful stamp onto the "heart" part of the orange cardstock. I inked around the edge and adhered to the actual chipboard heart tab itself. I glued the word "photos" on the tab part, and added buttons around both sides of the heart. Then adhered to the left of the chipboard page.
Finishing off the front page I added the little alpha stickers.
I traced around the Heart chipboard that was in the centre of one of the Heart tabs, using as a template. I cut out 6 hearts from green chipboard. I stamped using the Love stamp from the Buzz and Bloom Crazy Beautiful stamps. With pencil I coloured in the stamped hearts with pink pencil. I inked the edge of the green hearts and glued them onto each of the heart tabs (on both sides) once I completed the whole album.
I have stamped a Buzz and Bloom Straight to the Point Arrow stamp onto green cardstock and cut out...
On the Piggy Tail love page I have used the smaller Straight to the Point brackets (with the hearts) creating my own "journalling block", I also used the "love" stamp from the Crazy Beautiful stamps.
ONE of our favourite days was when we went to the zoo - I used two photos of Harmony on two pages.... I used a Straight to the Point Journalling stamp, one of the Crazy Beautiful stamps and also an "It's a Date" Stamp on these pages.
The last page I had a photo with a bad background, so I cut around the "good" bits - the Christmas tree and Harmony, silhoetting them. I stamped a "it's a date" stamp - "Wishing you a..." and handwrote Merry Christmas.
I finished off by adding the book rings and tying strips of orange corduroy fabric to them.
I still had a Heart Tab that I wanted to use, so I decided to scrapbook a layout - and decided on a page of my son, and how he loves Spaghetti...
I inked the outer and inner part of the heart tab with red ink. Then lightly inked the edges of the outer part of the heart tab with black ink. I stamped "Remember" from the It's a Date stamps on the tab part. The inner heart I stamped "love" from the Crazy Beautiful stamps, and using the mini tubby stamps I stamped "you"
I have also used another It's a Date stamp and written the date, and also used the xoxo bracket stamps from the "Straight to the Point" stamps to create a journalling block.
Thanks for looking! and I would like to Wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Looking back on this year it has been filled with totally awesome days! ... but one that stands out was halloween... Halloween is fairly new to my family, it's not really widely celebrated in Australia... But anything that mixes kids, dressing up, treats, and a heap of fun, has to be good right? Well the kids had a blast .. and I had a blast decorating . When I saw this chipboard Tabbed Book Kit (Halloween) that Buzz and Bloom brought out I knew it was a perfect mini album to record this year's Halloween fun.
I painted the Pumpkin on the page, and the two loose ones Orange, then coated them in Dimensional Magic, let them dry, then turned them over and did the other side. The cat, bat , witch, the Borderline Frills Chipboard piece and the Rustic Tiny Alphas were all painted with a black paint that contains Mica. giving them a sparkley Finish.
I used a stamp from the Buzz and Bloom Journalling2 Stamp Sheet to put the quotes on, I just stamped and cut them out and adhered them to the mini album using double sided tape.
Here are some close up shots.
Hope you have enjoyed a sneak peak into one of my favourite days this year!
I was blessed with a wonderful vacation this year. I got to spend 3 weeks with my sister-in-law and my wonderful nephew. They visited us here at our home and we did a lot of fun things. My nephew had a great time with his Uncle. They live so far away, that any visit is a great one, but one that lasts this long is absolutely wonderful. What a treat for me!!!
After our weeks together, we all got in the car and traveled to the beach for a final week of vacationing together. We met up with my brother and my niece.
My favorite place to be is at the beach. Smelling the sea air, feeling the sea breeze on my face, walking in the sand, and just soaking in all of the surroundings.
It takes me to a very happy and safe place. Lots of wonderful childhood memories.
I made this book filled with personal thoughts of the beach. I didn't need to put any photos in it to make be think of the wonderful time that I had.
I used Buzz and Bloom'sset of Tabbed Index Cards - Circles for my book base (only 3 of the 6 pages). I punched my own holes in the chipboard and bound the book using the Bind-It-All. It worked beautifully with this chipboard!
The pages were all colored with chalk inks. I stippled many colors on the pages. I white washed them with white Brilliance ink. I randomly stamped some flourishes, added layers of clip art/printed paper, and added my personal "words". I followed this all with embellishments - shells, ribbons, buttons, charms, flowers, more shells, netting, etc.
In this set of chipboard pages, tabs on two of the pages have a center that punches out. I used one of these as my front page. I added an inked Mini Token - Seashore behind the hole and glued it in place (the token is just a bit larger than hole. I then filled the recessed area with Diamond Glaze and clear small micro beads. Came out looking like a shell in the water.
I also made sure all of the tabs were decorated front and back. I added words, another Mini Token, and a burlap flower with a shell center to the tabs. I also attached a Mini Token to one of the ribbon tied to the binding of the book.
This turned out to be a very special project for me. It instantly brought back memories of my favorite week(s) from 2007. What a great time I had.
