Most of us are probably already preparing for Christmas! So do I! I made this little tinny in a vintage Christmas style. It is very simple, so here we go... All you need to start is a can. You will maybe have to eat a lot of cans to find the right one! So once you've found it and cleaned it, cover it with gesso and then the paint color you want. I chose a can which is white inside so I don't need to paint the inside.
Then choose your favorite papers and tear them into stripes. I chose my favorite vintage papers and glued them on the can. I added a few stripes of masking tape, I like the transparency effect of it and it matched the color harmony I wanted to do.
Stamp in the empty spaces. Taking the shape of the can into consideration, it is better to use acrylic stamps. I used the stamp directly on the inkpad and then applied it on the can. You have to proceed carefully not to stain your work with ink.
Wait a few minutes for the ink to dry (it dries fast on paper but a litte slower on the acrylic paint). Then you can cover your work with gel medium to protect it and reinforce the adherence of the papers.
While it is drying, you can apply Distress Ink on the Chipboards (previouly gessoed too). I used my favorite pair of wings from the Heavenly Chipboards. Apply a light shade of ink on the whole surface and use a little darker ink on the edges. You can apply gel medium also on the wings.
After that you can start the decorating part. I used strips of fabric and a ribbon, that I tied all around the can. And then I glued the wings on it.
The final part is to create the cove of the tinny. Use a metal wire and cover it with a stripe of fabric.
You will have to punch 2 holes with a cropadile into the tinny and attach the wire. Use the rest of the fabric stripes to hide the wire over the holes.
Your tinny is ready! You can use it as I did to store your Christmas chocolates!
Wohhh! Lilith, it's so beautiful !!!
Love it !!
