School is back and with that our youngest started Kindy last week. One of the things we needed to send with her was a recent photograph. You’d think, this being a scrapbooking household, that would be easy right? Ummm, no! She is such an active (and HUNGRY!) little thing, that when I looked back through all of our recent pics she was either eating, covered in food, crazy haired and/or grubby - just busy being a kid really. So we had to do a special photo shoot (which started with a shower!) to get a nice shot to give to her teacher. The photo on this LO is one of my favourites from that little session, so I wanted to scrap it in way that conveyed all the colourful elements of her personality.
The first thing was to decide on a colour scheme. I love the iridescent purple of the ACR Lava Lamp – Grape (Discontinued) so that was my starting point. I couldn’t go past pink of course, being every four-year-old princess’ favourite. The next thing was the COR On Cloud Nine – Azure, which worked really well. Then I felt the whole scheme needed to be lightened up a little with contrasting lime green and white. All set!
I luuuurrrve a cluster of embellishments! This type of design element features on most of my projects. There’s just something about the different textures and finishes, all jammed in together that really appeals to me. So I set to work layering up COR In Bloom – Azure, MIR Blame It On The Sunshine – Large, ACR Fruit Salad and CB Leaves. After painting the CB Leaves I used a “scripty” stamp in a contrasting coloured ink, then snipped into the layers of the chipboard and bent them up a little to add a bit more dimension.
The resulting LO is bright, fun and eclectic
– just like my little girl!
