Buzz and Bloom

"Heartbreaker" - by Bjay Jaminal

When the Buzz and Bloom design team were given the sneak peeks of its soon to be released CHA products, I instantly knew it would rock the show! Right then and there, it was an absolute winner! So it didn't come out as a surprise when I found out Buzz and Bloom got the 1st place award for the 2009 CHA Innovations Showcase!

My favorite of the new line would have to be the denim! Here's a sample of what I did with it:

 

For the main focal point of my design, I used the Denim In Bloom-Indigo. I slipped in a couple of paper flowers in between the big and small denim flowers for dimension. 

To anchor the photo, I also used Denim Borderline: Heart Throb-Blush, and put another one at the bottom. Note that they are ideal for altering, like what I did with mine by putting glitter dots on the borders.

For the letters, I knew the best bet would be ABC: That 70s Alphabet-Small.

"Angel On Earth" - by Bjay Jaminal

Here is another fun layout featuring the super cute Denim Love & Kisses-Blush  and CB Shelby Alphabet-Small/Large alphabets! They are just dang adorable and will make a great combo for a layout or project for your child. Can you see the hearts? Yes, they have it! And so I have decided to put pearl accents onto it for more definition.

 

I double-matted my photo using the new Cord Patchwork: The George-Avocado. It gives a very nice visual impact because of its texture. And by adding the CB Shelby Alphabet-Small/Large side by side with the Love & Kisses alpabet, I had the perfect finish to my layout.

Surprise! It was a breeze applying rub-ons to the Cord Patchwork: The George-Avocado :)

Borders galore! - by Bjay Jaminal

Don't be intimidated by the gorgeous Buzz and Bloom border products, for they offer endless creative possibilities if you make them the focal point of your layouts! For example:

I used one of the CB Arboretum: Retro Vine - Large designs and painted it black to serve as an anchor for my first layout entitled "Ray Of Light".

I also used CST Inspire Me for my journaling:

It makes all the difference, don't you think? For my second layout entitled "Pacencioso", I used a different border from the CB Arboretum: Retro Vine pack. This time I used it to frame my photo! I  simply applied glitter paint on the bare chipboard to maintain its rugged appeal.

So next time, don't be afraid to use a border piece whole or in parts on your next project. It's fun!

Color Combo Challenge: 'Gettin' Cheeky' - by Bjay Jaminal

Betcha you can't miss the bird!

For this fresh color combo of yellow and navy blue, I used the ACR Totally Too Tweet - Large (blueberry) as the main attraction for my layout.

At first I thought the bird was too big for my 8.5x11 layout base... but my, was I proven wrong! It actually complements my overall design very well. Don't you think? Here's a closer look:

Made me smile after I saw my finished layout. Hey, go ahead and try the blueberry-colored Buzz and Bloom acrylic products today! They're just total eye candies - pun intended of course!

Writer's Block: Sugar & Spice - by Bjay Jaminal

Oxymoron: is a figure of speech that combines two normally contradictory terms.

Here's an easy layout design for you highlighting and maximizing the use of Buzz and Bloom's Writer's Block series.

I used the CB Writer's Block: Seedlings. That teensy die-cut flower is just the perfect size so I can write my journaling freely (I planned to write a lot!). To dress it up, I applied several coats of paints to it, and used black, brown and pink ink pads to distress the edges and make it look a bit aged. I was so impressed because the chipboard didn't feather at the sides at all. L-O-V-E. 

 

Here, I also put some glitter inside the die-cut flower for some whimsy:

His & Hers - by Bjay Jaminal

Can you ever imagine using any Buzz and Bloom product prominently but in reality, it's not really there? So... it is invisible, you say? Here's a fun project that you can try for yourself!

I made a pair of personalized pillowcases for myself and my better half. Just so we don't unintentionally "switch pillows" anytime. Here's how it looks:

Get two plain pillowcases, your favourite textile paint colour and a paintbrush. For this project, I used the CB Lava Lamp - Small and the ACR Skip to my Loo - Small as my "invisible" design elements.

Just brush some paint on the chipboards and the acrylics, then carefully "stamp" them onto the pillowcases.

A Bird In Solitude - by Bjay Jaminal

Now this is a super fun project that can easily add pizazz to any special room in your house!

First, I primed a 9x11 inch canvass frame with gesso and painted it black. Then I painted a number of twigs in white, so that it contrasts with the black background. On the different circles on the twigs, I adhered round epoxy stickers in different colors and sizes as well.

 

Now here's the fun part: I used the ACR Totally Too Tweet - Large in Lacquer White and dipped it in a peroxide solution before I "burned" the whole bird using a lit candle (no real animal was hurt during the process, though).The peroxide's reaction blackened the acrylic bird while keeping a slight sheen to it. I also used a piece of the ACR Beaded Curtain in Gloss Black, painted it white, and replaced the original wing of the bird to add dimension. Notice the bird has only one leg? That's just because I think it's thematic to the title of my project. Ha.

Bills Holder - by Bjay Jaminal

I have been wanting to have this totally handy, cute and funky bills holder for the longest time. But I never got around to making it until the mini series products arrived! Yay!

 

First, I used the ACR The MIni Series: The George (flouro green), I dabbed some black paint on it to make the pretty damask design "pop". Then, I painted the base of the CB Writer's Block: Sparkling chipboard red.

Can you see the intricate grooves engraved into it? I painted them yellow for contrast and definition.

I also used the funky chipboard alpha, CB ABC Distracted Schoolgirl for the word "bills" and painted it black.

Of course, you have to embellish here and there. Such fun products these mini series are! I thought the fridge door is where I wanted to put it. Now I will never miss a due date so long as I get my iced tea from the fridge, of course *wink*.

Who Will You Be Today? - by Bjay Jaminal

I take on many various roles and responsibilities in my life, and if time and resourses permitted, I could wear many more hats and live on the edge. So for this cute photo frame/compact mirror project using the brand new mini series line totally engaged me in dramatizing my life.

For the photo frame/compact mirror base, I used ACR The Mini Series: The George (gloss black). I also used ACR Skip To My Loo - Small (bubblegum), Mirror Reflections, and the new ACR The Mini Series: Frills (lacquer white).

 

If you will look closely, you'll see me peeking in the mirror - Fun.

So ask yourselves once in a while: "Who will you be today?" 

You could be a rap queen, a space crew commander... you know that the answers could be endless!

Fun stuff packed in these mini series! Make sure your LSS stocks up on these babies!

What I Leaned From You - by Bjay Jaminal

Don't we all love superheroes? And at one point in our young lives, we emulate our most favourite one and try to give ourselves our own superhero name. But they are all fictional characters who nonetheless inspired us in so many ways.

This project is very special to me because we were asked to interpret who we consider our "superhero". And I chose my sweet niece Tffee who is definitely the constant source of joy to our family. Undoubtedly, I consider her my baby. And by having constant interactions with her, she has made my life a little more joyful to say the least. 

First of, I used CB Book: Xtra Pages as base for my mini-book. I used a piece of thin cardstock, traced the letter "T" (for Tffee), cut it, pasted it and apllied crackle paint and let it dry completely.

And again, the Buzz and Bloom chipboard product proved very easy to work with especially when it comes to painting it! It can take several coats of paint and it won't feather at all. I even applied a shimmering liquid after and it held very well.

 

Here are the finished pages. I also added transparent folder sheets to the mini-book for flair. Starting off with the cover and some close-ups:

You will notice that I framed Tffee's face and the title with CB The Butterfly Effect chipboard too! Cool, eh?

 

 

For the journaling spots, I used the CST 505 Inspire Me Clear Stamps
