When I was asked to do a project about a real-life fairytale, all I could think of was how I found my very own real-life prince.... "Prince Theo". I think every little girl dreams of finding a prince someday. Someone who is kind and gentle, intelligent, honest, hardworking, fun, and handsome. Through the years it seemed like I met many frogs (even a few "toads"). I quickly knew they would never become my fairytale prince. But, one day I met Ted. I knew from the moment I met him, he was my prince... "Prince Theo". I made this altered cd folder to share a little of my personal fairytale.
I made this using a blank cd folder, as It offers a sturdy base, and has pockets to tuck away small surprises. For this book I used one blank cd folder, a couple of sheets of coordinating Basic Grey paper, ribbon, stamps, ink, labeler, 2 gold crown charms, and printed images.
I started out by inking the entire cover of the cd folder in a solid color. The outside cover was stamped around the edges with various sized circles in various colors (to match my Basic Grey papers). I also inked all of the edges of the cd folder.
I tore a piece of paper for the cover. It was stippled around the edges and sanded to give it an aged look. The cover piece was stamped with "Take a Chance On Love" using Buzz and Bloom's Long Johns alphabet stamp set. The ribbon was attached around the cd folder, and the stamped cover piece was attached to the folder over the ribbon.
Next, I cut or tore all of the pieces of paper needed to cover the inside of the cd folder. Each piece was stippled around their edges, and sanded for an aged look.
Attach papers to the inside of the cd folder. A horse drawn carriage was stamped on the paper covering the inside pocket, using Buzz and Bloom's Silhouette stamp set.
With a labeler, I printed out the words "kiss a frog get a prince". I layered these onto a layer of cardstock. I stamped the word "handsome" from Buzz and Bloom's Men stamp set. I punched out a bunch of circles that I used to connect my words. I adhered them all to the inside of the cd folder, making sure "handsome" was under my prince.
I printed a black and white photo of my prince, and a photo of a generic frog (unknown source). I colored the frog with colored pencils, and gave him a sparkly eye with clear glitter glue.
The colored frog was attached to the inside cover of the cd folder.
The photo of my prince was made into a cut out tag that is tucked into the slash pocket. I also made a journaling tag that tucks into a pocket on the left side (behind frog). I used this tag to write a little about my real-life fairy tale. To finish this project off, I added a large golden crown charm to my princes head, and a small crown to the front cover.
"I've kissed a few frogs, and even a couple of toads. None of them ever turned into a Prince... until I met Theo. He became my Prince, my love, my life."
