My sister-in-law recently sent me a new school photo of my nephew, and I felt that it needed a beautiful new home to be displayed in.
For this photo hanger, I used Buzz and Bloom's Leaf Frame chipboard set. I used only the large frame portion of the set. (It still leaves me with the large leaf punch out, many small leaves, a smaller frame shape, and photo corners, that I can use on other projects.)
The frame was stippled with shades of olive, lime, gray, and white inks. It has a mottled, aged look to it. The photo was mounted onto gray cardstock, a layer of printed cardstock, followed by an olive background layer. The "leaf" cutout was backed with the same printed cardstock.
I attached an arrow shaped metal photo turn to the photo layers. Also added a metal file tab with his name on it. To finish it off, I added a fiber hanger. For the hanger, I braided two types of fiber and some twine together, and attached it to the frame with lacing brads.
I didn't forget to back the frame with a solid layer of cardstock, and sign and date it. I also included a bit of journaling on the back. Attention to detail really "finishes" any project.
Now I can happily see my nephew everyday.
